Parts and components for aircraft and spacecraft must be manufactured with great precision and accuracy to ensure proper performance and safety. Many need to meet very tight tolerances, as well as strict standards or regulations. Simple or complex, large or small, aerospace parts are often machined with precision CNC material removal equipment like mills, lathes, and others.

In addition to computer-controlled manufacturing processes, we follow detailed quality control and inspection processes for every project. These are some of the tools and processes we use to verify we are meeting specifications and standards:
Coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
These devices use a probe to check the critical measurements on parts such as feature locations, size dimensions, slopes, profiles, and angles. Data is recorded and compared against specs and tolerances to determine if adjustments are necessary.
Height gauge
These gauges are used to verify the height and other dimensions of a machined aerospace component.
Profile projector
This optical measuring machine is used for checking and measuring complex shapes and includes a zoom feature to magnify components for close visual inspection.
Rockwell hardness testing
Rockwell hardness measures how deeply an indenter tool presses into a material under heavy and light loads. It determines how hard the material is based on a standard scale of Rockwell hardness values.
Surface Roughness Testing
This is a measure of how smooth or rough the surface finish of a part is. A special tester called a 3D surface profilometer is used to graph the surface characteristics to compare with required tolerances for surface finish.
First Article Inspection (FAI)
In this quality assurance process, a small number of finished parts are selected at random from the initial production run (or the first run after modifications or a long pause in production). The selected parts are carefully compared to the design specifications to check for precision and accuracy, and to determine any modifications that may be necessary.
